1.3.2 One Child One Bag Program
This program has been a quite popular in the past. The project was initially
started in 2019-2020 by our PDG Lion Shobha Joshi. In remote and rural
villages in Nepal, it is common to see many students walking 30+ mins to
school holding their books under their arms or carrying them in a plastic
bag. Their families’ financial status is so weak that they cannot afford
necessities, such as a school bag and other stationaries needed for school.
With a limited income, they would instead buy food over school stationary.
Amidst the poverty, high dropout rates at school remain a crucial issue in
many schools in rural Nepal. Many studies have clearly shown that lack of
learning environment, lack of educational infrastructure, and poverty are
significant resigns behind high dropout rates at schools.
To help the schools reduce drop-out rates and empower students, the
District is on a mission to implement the “One Child One Bag” project.
This project will help schools lower their dropout rates by motivating
the students to attend school. Students will proudly walk to the school
knowing that they are carrying a bag that includes stationaries they would
need to succeed at school. We believe that every child needs a quality
school bag and basic education supplies.

communities. These could include, for example, sports equipment, drinking
water, libraries improvements, science labs improvement, and so on. Let’s
find ways to support these communities’ schools and do whatever we can.
1.4 Persons with Disability (Support to different types of Persons with
Disabilities)
From this inception, Lions have been tirelessly doing great work supporting
needy people with disabilities. As a lions club, it is our responsibility to
continue supporting these people whatever ways we can. Let’s prioritize
this program as one of the key areas of the club service activities for
inclusion of persons with disabilities in our society. Each club will at least
