DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S INTRODUCTION

Lion Dinesh Prasad Shrestha
District Governor

Dinesh Prasad Shrestha was elected to service as District Governor for LY
2022-2023 at the 10 Annual District Convention of District 325 A2 on
th
January 29, 2022, in Kathmandu. He is the first District Governor of District
325 H after redistricting of District 325 A2.
Dinesh Shrestha started the lion journey from Lions Club of Kathmandu
Down Town from March 1989 when Nepal had single district. He has held
many offices/ positions in the club as well as in the District. He took the role
of Cabinet Secretary two times.
In recognition of his services to the communities and the association,
he has received numerous awards including best Club President Award,
International President’s Awards, International Leadership Award,
Extension Award, 30 years Monarch Chevron, 25 years Monarch Chevron,
Silver Centennial Lion and Gold Centennial and many more. He has also
served Project Chairperson for various LCIF Projects. He is Progressing
Melvin Jones Fellowship.
By profession, he is a management and organization development expert
with 40 years of experiences. Dinesh Shrestha is the Co-founder and
International Director of Room to Read, an organization that believes
World Change Starts with Educated Children.® Room to Read envisions
a world in which all children can pursue a quality education that enables
them to reach their full potential and contribute to their communities and
the world.
Dinesh also worked with International Development Organization like
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and the GTZ, and the
World Health Organization. Dinesh has contributed to the operations and
programs of Room to Read across Asia in various roles including Country
Director for Laos, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal.
Dinesh has been recognized for his social contributions in Nepal with the
Silver Jubilee of HM King Birendra’s Accession to the Throne Award and
in 2013, received the highest national award in Cambodia bestowed by His
Majesty the King of Cambodia and recently received the “Pradesh Deep”
Award from Nepal Government (Bagmati Province)
He holds a master’s in business administration with a specialization in human
resource management from Kathmandu University. District Governor
Dinesh and his wife Shobha Shrestha, also a charter lion member (34 years)
have one son.
